Sharon Cowey
Mediator
Sharon Cowey’s professional experience includes the
fields of conflict resolution, environmental justice,
archaeology, ethnography, and cultural anthropology.
She has worked on project teams to document
allegations of chemical water pollution in a low-income
African American community, to analyze the
archaeological record of a community of former slaves,
and to evaluate effective outreach methods for human
trafficking victims.
Sharon’s practice as a conflict resolution professional
incorporates the dynamics of race, class, and gender.
Her understanding and experience of these topics
enable her to design and implement just and fair
community participation processes. Her current focus is
waterfront redevelopment within the District of
Columbia and General Management Plans including
Environmental Impact Statements and Environmental
Assessments.
Sharon joined Justice and Sustainability Associates in
2007.
